Across AlUla, the landscape holds traces of different kinds of life: flora, animals and the inscriptions left by people moving through the region. Skinlal follows these traces into a textile that travels with another inhabitant of the landscape, the camel. The traditional camel cover becomes a surface on which research can be carried. Observations of biodiversity and historic inscriptions are translated into pattern, then developed through the knowledge of Lebanese artisans. Between drawing and handcraft, the project connects the place that inspired it with the people who give it form. A textile becomes a meeting point between landscape, cultural memory and the continuing practice of making.
