Fold a sheet of paper and a building begins to appear. Unfold it and the form recedes, leaving a fragile trace of what was there. In a city repeatedly altered by construction and loss, this simple movement becomes a way of approaching memory. Developed with Nabil Gholam Architects and Built by Associative Data, Memory in Folded Paper revisits Beirut’s changing urban landscape through paper cut-outs, light and augmented reality. The familiar gesture of folding draws visitors into a history that can be explored and activated. Physical fragments and digital layers reveal different moments in the city’s transformation, inviting reflection on what disappears, what remains and what might come next.
